ICU Standards, ETT position changes ETT positioning
Repositioning

Our repositioning/retaping is as needed. We do daily CXR on all intubated children to assess for tube placement. If the ETT has slipped a bit or there is too much play in the tape job, it is retaped and repositioned. Usually, the RT with move the ETT to a different position along the lip. But we do not have any set policy for frequency of repositioning. We retape as needed too. With slobbery children, that can be anywhere from every 8 hours, to as infrequently as every week or so.
